Ruby Rings

Each natural ruby is hand selected and verified by our on-staff GIA Graduate Gemologist and selected for its superior color, cut and clarity characteristics. Rubies share many of the same characteristics as sapphires since they are both part of the same mineral species, corundum. The difference between them is of course the color - red. The beautiful and enchanting hue that symbolizes devotion, passion and desire.

The Timeless Appeal of Ruby Rings

A ruby ring is a beautiful choice for someone who is drawn to bold color, timeless elegance and a gemstone with real presence. The rich red of ruby has long been associated with love, passion, confidence and vitality, giving it an appeal that feels both romantic and powerful. Rubies are also exceptionally durable, making them well suited for rings that are worn often, whether as a special occasion piece, a meaningful gift or even an engagement ring. Paired with diamonds or showcased on its own, a fine ruby creates a look that is classic, luxurious and unmistakably distinctive.

About Rubies

Fine rubies are incredibly rare, and the market is flooded with various treatments that can affect their value. Most rubies today undergo heat treatment—a permanent, industry-standard process that enhances their color, durability, and overall beauty, making them an excellent and practical choice for fine jewelry. In contrast, methods like beryllium diffusion, which intensifies color by introducing beryllium into the crystal lattice, and lead glass filling, used to improve clarity by infiltrating bleached rough with glass, are unstable and not accepted by the industry, significantly reducing a ruby's value. Since untreated rubies make up less than 1% of available gems and also command a price beyond most budgets, buyers must verify that their ruby has only undergone the approved heat treatment. At MySapphireSource, we proudly sell rubies that have received standard heat treatment only, ensuring you invest in a stone of exceptional quality and enduring value.

Fun Fact

Did you know that rubies have long been known as the "king of gems"? Ancient royalty and warriors treasured these fiery stones, believing that a ruby could bestow courage, protection, and even passion on its wearer. Legends tell of rubies that not only enhanced the strength of the heart but also were thought to reveal hidden wisdom. This mystical allure, combined with a history steeped in myth and power, makes owning a ruby feel like possessing a tangible piece of history and magic.
