Standard Treatment of Emeralds

The standard, industry accepted treatment for emeralds involves the filling of surface-reaching fractures with oils, resins,polymers and/or waxes to reduce the visibility of the fractures and improve the emerald's clarity. Non-treated emeralds of appreciable sizes are exceptionally rare and valuable.
